    Thumbs up Headers

    Long tube designs 30+ "'s create a strong exhaust pulse signal throughout the piipe which enhances low-to mid range torque and hp. As the tubes become shorter ie, shorties ir mid-lenght haeders, the tuning effect has less time to enhance the engine low speed benefits. A shoter header tube will allow the low-to-mid power to fall off while increasing the upper end potential of the engine. Basically tube lenght can and is used to alter the power curve of the engine. Another critical factor is primary size. I'm not going to go into detail there but you can go too large, but i doubt the pacesetters evryone uses are too big. Header choice should depend use of vehicle.. So shortie headers will provide an hp/tq increase and I've got dyno number to prove but no scanner to put on post. With shorties, k&n drop in MPFI spacer, and magnaflow cats i pivked up almost 30 hp

    Replying

    I cannot believe no one is saying anything about this. I mean i figured i'd hear something from the guy's that think longtubes are the only way to go on our line of engines

    30 hp or 30WHP. 30Whp is like 40 hp to the motor. If you picked up 30whp from shorties, drop in, cats and spacer, Your stock exhaust must have been crap. Also could have had bad oem cats. Spacer does nuthin, cats are great, but not better than ORY. And ive heard of shorties maybe putting 5-10whp down on a 6.0. if you got 30whp with that setup... you would have gotten 60whp with longtubes, ory, no spacer, no cats, and a $200 intake. hel even the drop in.
    drop in= $50
    spacer=$50
    shorties= $200-800
    cats= $100-300
    $500-$1500 for 30whp
    vs...........
    Lts and ory- $522
    dropin- $50
    plus more power

    Like I said almost 30 hp, MPFI spacers do do something , thay also alter the hp/tq of the engine, and on some application, not neccasarilly LS1's the can add power

    i Dont want to fight

    ok, i'm not gonna argue with you. I'll just let ya'll believe what you want. Maybe someday we can do dyno test and tune to see who is right?

    shorties made my 4.8 with a baby cam run like ****... sounds like the exhaust was banging its was down the pipe... oh and it was slow.. i put the ceramic pace's on.. now breathes like a beast... i think its more like this:
    lt's=30hp ALONE. at least thats what it felt like after i threw the shorties out.
    sorry man, not flaming you on purpouse... but i think its the general concensuss (sp), shorties are ****
    02 Sierra... motorless for now.
    02 SS.. stock bottom 4.8, 241's, 224-220/116+4, 918's and pushrods, front mount turbonetics 78mm, HKS GTII, TiAL, eBoost2, Yank PT3600, Performabuilt 60e, solid motor mounts. Tuned by me with HP Pro and LM2/AFX

    eh.... Its all good. I Just think that with the 250 you spent on shorties, you could have saved for the LT's. and the only use Ive heard for spacers is on a carbed motor, and the gain was minimal ie. like 1 hp. I believe you gained 30hp. I just think that the shorties are a waist of money, unless you cant fit LT's then they are ok. maybe for a turbo shorties would be better than LT's.

    Alright guys

    I'm gonna join the club and get some longtube ceramic pacesetters as soon as i can. Any thought on what i should do to complete the exhaust- either pacestter y with a single in out muffler (which kind ? ), corsa catback maybe or get custom pipes true dualed 2.5" w/ h-pipe and the highest flowing/best sounding mufflers. at first i will go dumps to save cash but eventually full
    length w some nice angle cut downward facing tips at rear corners because we all know exhausts were made to go full lenghth, you'll get more power over dumps. PLease dont rag on my opinions any more but shorties will make more power over stock. any advice on the exhaust system will be appreciated and considerd.
