Torque curve is higher. If he's like me, I still like to tow (when I have to). Not that the LS1 wouldn't hold it's own, but always better to have more than less... especially when I can find LQ9s at or about the same price as LS1s... but it depends on the mileage and seller.
If I were to do a swap again, it'd be a 6.0L or bigger (408 sounds nice).

Or do you mean the LS1 torque is higher up in the rpm band? I would think the LQ9 would have more torque down lower for towing and or moving more weight and bigger tires.
