    weight reduction

    today i was told for every 100lbs you loose 2 tenths is this true?
    1999 5.3 ex cab 3/5 drop, k&n CAI, BBK 80mm TB, Pace setter longtubes, 3" ory, hooker aero muffler, TS 224r cam w/112 lsa, comp cam 918 springs, TS chromoly pushrods, 180 degree thermostat, Nelson tune, 3 angle valve job, electric fans, 28x11.50 et streets

    Ive always heard every lbs100=1 tenth

    thats what ive heard also but i heard that talking about f bodies. you loose 2000 pounds on a truck i bet you gain more than 2 seconds.

    reason i was asking guys is i was going to purchase a stepside and was wondering if it was worth it or not

    No its not worth it. put your engine in the bed and your gas tank in front i bet you pick up 2 1/2 seconds easy. weight distribution on trucks sux.

    how much does the rear bumper and tailgate weigh approx.?

    I thought you were doing it for cosmetic reasons. 1. your truck weight distribution is 60%front/40%back, If you could get that even'd out to 50/50(unlikely w/ext.cab) and 2. get rid of axle wrap(leaf springs), it would amaze you how much you would take off your times. It wont help making rear any lighter. put a tejaunnou cover on it,or make the rear sit 2"-3" lower then the front.

    so the lower the rear sits then the front the better?
