70 c10 w/ Ls motor would be worth more in long run and would not have to worry about emissions. You would be dumping money into an investment, instead of just a hobby. Those trucks will be worth something in near future. look at the 68' models, everyone wants em. 72' and under gets into Goodguys shows, big market there. Just my $.02

yeah...if you have a c10 available i definitely think that would be a better truck to put an lsx engine in.

Yea the 454ss are slowwww, 240hp, 400 ftlb, i test drove a really nice one with 40k original miles, my 5.3 would have walked on it bad. I say go the 6.0 route.

I like the 454SS, but I must vote for the 6.0.

The 454SS is a cool rig, and due to its cubic inches, it does have potential to be a fast little truck. The problem is, you would have to do quite a bit of modding to make it a fast little truck. Stock 454SS's usually run in the 15s and bolt on 454SS's usually run low 15s and high 14s. Pound for pound, mod for mod, I think the 6.0 will usually get the upper hand.

Then of course there is always the MPG issue. Most of the 454SS's came with Turbo400 (3spd) trans and 4.10 gears. Needless to say, they dont get good MPG at all. With equal transmission and gears the MPG comparison may be alot closer, but in stock form there is a big difference.

Mods and/or power adders are going to cost you no matter which truck you choose and both trucks will respond well to them.

Most of my opinion reflects time spent on 454ss.com North American Truck Club and forums like this one. The 454SS website will give a good look at what guys are doing with them as far as mods are concerned and what kind of times their getting.

Either truck will be cool and I look forward to seeing what you do.

Just my humble opinion, hope it helps.
