The 61949 Edelbrock head was designed for a 3.90" bore engine. We machine Edelbrock's 61989 head casting into one of several different intake port configurations depending on application. We have a series of port designs for 4.8l/5.3l engines and some for 3.90" LS1's and 2's. Our 215cc head is real popular on street driven appications. Our 245cc program is our max effort cathedral head and is capable of over 330cfm@.600" lift. Becasue we offer a small variety of port configurations we can setup a CNC finished head for approx $2200.00per set.

The part number you listed (61949) was designed for a 3.90" bore dia. LS1 engine. Our CNC'd 215cc version was designed for a 4.0" bore 6.0l or LS2 engine. We use a slightly larger 2.055" dia. intake valve and a 1.60" dia. exhaust valve. It's reverse compatible to a 5.7l LS1 bore as long as you run a 6.0L head gasket. This is a bit better setup for the larger bore IMO.
