    my 853 heads

so i am pulling my engine and have been wondering where i can send the heads to have them done up. it should be much cheaper to have heads done than buy heads right? i know the livernoise heads are 1200 so how much would it run to have the same thing done to my heads. or should i just find a nice set of 243 heads. will they be as nice as a set of stage 2 livernoise.

The 243 heads are pretty damn nice from what I've heard. You could go have them fixed up for pretty cheap and then have your valvetrain balanced and do a 5 angle valve job done. The 243s won't be AS nice as the Livernoise heads, but they will perform just as well... It's the price difference that some can't get over---you get slightly more power from the Livernoise, but you spend wayyyyy more $$$. I'd stick with the re-worked 243s...

    i dropped from 12.49@105 to 12.20 @ 110 switching from 853's to patriot stage 2 243's.

5mph difference! heads are 1,130 shipped and come with patriot gold springs, titanium retainers and gm bolts. go that rout IMO.

the 243 heads are hard to beat, especially on these small bore engines.

I paid $1000.00 for my 243 heads from Patriot and love them. It was a Christmas special that Patriot offered. You can't beat the price and the heads are brand new GM castings without a core trade in. I wouldn't mess with porting a set of used heads when you can purchase a new set for the same cost. JMHO

It'll probably be after the first of the year. I'm taking the S&P headers off so I can finish fitment of the longtubes next week if things go well. I'm also going to pull my intake so I can fit the Magnacharger up to see what type of filter system I want to install. Too much work right now and too little time. I'd like to see a little cooler weather anyways, what about you?
