My silverado is under 4300lbs. I saw it on the scale at a trash center when I was weighing out after dumping some trash. Mines a 2000 ext z71. And I havent added or taken anything off of it.

mines a 2000 ecsb z71 also with a rollpan and no spare. i should do that, go to the dump and see what i weigh. im not gonna do anything with my 4wd, its worth it too me for the extra traction. i can hardly touch the gas without spining in the rain.

i did this already, each CV axle weighed 18lbs the transfer case weighed 83lbs, front diff weighed 79lbs, and then you have some skid plates and bracing the weighed in the neighbor hood of 40lbs, truck lost a lot of weight and i could feel it pulling better on the top end for sure, but to convert it you need a new trans cross memember and it is easier to get a 2wd trans instead of converting the 4wd one

IMHO, leave it alone. You will want to keep the 4WD capability for offroading and traction at the strip, if needed. I friend told me something a while back when I got my current 2WD truck (I only had 4WD trucks in the past): 4 wheel drive is like a condom. It's better to have it and NOT need it, than to need it and NOT have it...

I put my truck on the scale at the track. I'm not sure how accurate it was, but I cant figure out how you ext 4x4 guys weigh less than 5,000 pounds. I should mention, when I weighed my truck it did not have rear seat, tail gate, spare, drop hitch, and front sway bar..
