Hey all should spring retainers be re-used if not does anyone know a good brand. Thunder racing has a cam package for a 220/220 112 lsa cam 918 springs 7.4 pushrods and retainers are optional obviously cost more.. just figured id ask.

You can reuse your retainers if you aren't going too crazy with your cam specs or if the stock retainers have low mileage. If you get a high lift cam, dual springs, hardened pushords, and higer ratio rockers, then you should get new retainers that can handle the specs of the new valvetrain. If you stay below a .600 lift, you can use your stock retainers... But with a cam over .550 lift, it is required that you replace the springs/pushrods.

So, you are going to get new retainers because of high mileage? Cause your cam doesn't have too crazy of specs... You can do Comp, Lunati, Manley (Titanium), Manley (Steel)...

I don't see why you would have to buy new steel or ti retainers. The factory ones should hold up fine with your cam and spring combo. The wear/fatigue due to mileage is nominal. There is very little weight savings with the ti retainers so not much of a performance edge there. Look over your stock steel retainers and if they all look good, run 'em.

Oh, if it only has 54K on the clock then you are fine. Just use the stock retainers. I did on my truck and I had about 60K when I did it...they looked just fine...

if your using a cam that the old 918's are good with, you can use stock retainers.
If we go with an aggressive cam, we just use the Patriot Gold double springs.
$230 for springs, titanium retainers, new seals, and seats.
