Well, for your application, a Comp HR 265 XER or a HR269 XER may be in your future... If you do one of those cams, a 3000 stall would be mandatory! Either of those will wake up that lil 4.8L! But you definitely need a custom tune to go with... Longtubes would be an excellent idea as well... Adding a Shaner ported TB will work well too!

Hmmm...Off roading??? The 265 is the smaller of the two, and it is ground for better low-end power. The 269 would be a good one, but the stall would have to be in place as well... I have seen other peeps go bigger than a 269, but the powerband on the 4.8L moves way up and a 3400 stall is required. IMHO, I wouldn't go any bigger than 22X/22X .56X/.56X 112 LSA on a 4.8L. If you want a bigger cam, you could go with one of these. That would be about the biggest cam that I would go with...
