Yea i dont know about u guys but 700 - 900 for a vigi is alot of money for a converter, yank and tci are more reasonable.. around 500 or so...
TCI's suck really bad, I blew the lock up clutch in the old one I had in less than 10K miles. I beat the **** out of it but still should have lasted longer.
2007 CCSB Z71 VortecMax: Stock!
TCI's are getting a pretty bad rep and Fuddle's have earned a bad rep in the truck community. John Fuddle is a great guy to deal with, but being a great guy doesn't pay for converter swaps.
If cash is an issue, get a Yank, Art Carr, or the Phoenix that Virgil is using. There are some others as well that MIGHT work and have a good rep in some communities (the Edge converters come to mind).
If I were you, I would pay cash for a new converter of your choice, when you get it, pull the Fuddle and put the new one in, advertise the new warrantied Fuddle on the forums with "buyers choice of stall speed", and when you have a buyer, have John ship it directly to the them. That's what he did for me. Just make sure he'll do the same for you before advertising obviously...
I agree on the Yank but not the TCI. Another way to look at it is: for the cost of the Fuddle, the cost to install the Fuddle, and then the cost to swap converters (unless you do all that yourself), you could have bought a Vigilante and been fine (what I wish I had done my first go-round).
Do it once, do it right.

You could not pay me to put a fuddle or TCI in my truck. I read enough before i bought mine. Sometimes you get what you pay for.
On a side note. TCI if I remember right use to be in North Alabama and got bought out. They were great then, now I think not. Even If I was pulling the verter and putting the new one in. What is your own time and aggravation worth X2 cause the new one is gonna go south just like the original then you will be back at square one.
