    Think this Would Be ok

    I'm looking at this tranny
1997 TRANS AM LT1 T56 TRANS ((PARTING OUT))

The guy says the car and Tranny have 113k miles on it. Anything i should look for? Any thing that will tell me the Tranny is shot?

If i purchase the tranny, you guys think it will need to be rebuilt, or whill i beable to just put it in my truck? Any opinions, or comments welcomed

    Thanks in advance
    Trevor

Just picked up a T-56 out of an 02 TransAm. It had the LSx style bellhousing, the LT1 bellhousing won't fit i believe. But can be purchased seperately on e-bay. I wish i had the pigtail harnesses for the tranny, you could get them if you got yer hands on the whole car. And i think it is longer than your transmission. So you should get yhe crossmember and cut it up too!

Couple questions, how much you get the tranny for? Have you installed the tranny yet, If so how's the placement of the shifter coming through the floorboard? Is it farther back, i've just recently been researching, so i don't know if they make a kit to bring the shifting back to the original place, or if its even out of place coming throught the floorboard? Or is the floor board going to have to get cut? And when you say pigtail of the harness, Would i just take all the fittings in the tranny, follow up the wire and disconect them from the Computer? or do they get cut?

I stole mine. 30,000 miles, custom Strange driveshaft with Strange yolk, and Exedy dual disc cluth and flywheel( sells for $2,000 on lingenfelter.com) for $750 cash. Called a guy on ebay, and drove 4 hours to pick it up that night. I installed it into some duct tape and a black trashbag, yes. It had no shifter, so teh stock placement of the black trashbag is still intact. I can send pictures if you would like. Im thinking its gunna come out under hte ashtray. Cause an f-body you sit on the floor and your toes go under the hood basically. Maybe we can make a goose neck shifter, i dunno how "short throw" it can be made *sigh* Like scoot under hte car, locate the three sensors, put the wire clipper in your hand, grope the wires that leave the sensor as faaar into the guts as you can then snip 'em. Basically get some loose wires that you can extend to the pcm on one end, that plug into the tranny on the other end> #--- < looks like that. That will be easier than sneaking up on the wires cause they will be a pita to get out. You are gunna have to repin your original PCM connectors anyways. Unless your 5 speed has the proper hookups? I am going from...a 1991 auto harness to 02 T-56 so you might have it easier.
