Trying to figure out what the cause of my weak lowend is, I know LS-1s don't have as strong a lowend as Lt-1s but mine seems to be too weak, it barely spins the tires. The setup I'm running is a 02 LS-1 with a 4l60E, 3.90 rear and a 30.47 tall tire. My lowend tuning is currently untouched but I was wondering if my tire/gear combo could be causing my lowend weakness. The truck is very strong on the topend especially around 60 mph, it seems like it pulls harder there than from a standstill which makes me think its the gear and tall tire, but just wanted to know what everybody here thought.

Is it a locking differential or have any factory traction control equipment?

My truck is somewhat similiar but I thought it was because I installed a LS6 cam. I think most of the guys are running a looser torque converter which lets the engine rpm's come up to where it is producing more torque and horsepower. I am running a 29.75 tire with 4.10's but I have a six speed which doesn't have a low gear ratio as low as the automatics so we are probably close to the same in first gear. Also a lot of the guys with auto's are running 4.10's and I think it would help you if you plan to keep the tire height you are running. I am planning on 4.56. The LS1's seem to not have the low end torque as previous small blocks but they do like rpm's.

Something must be wrong! I have a 02LS! with 4L60E, 3.73 gears, 30.6" tires and locking diff and I can spin both tires all day long. My truck feels strongest in low gear and pulls real hard through all the gears and I'm running the stock converter. Have you tried to shift to low gear and take off vs just leaving it in drive. Maybe it isn't shifting into 1st and it is taking off in 2nd. Count your gears as it is shifting and see if all four gears are there. When I first drove mine I forgot to hook up one power wire and my truck felt real slugish and took off from 2nd gear unless I manually shifted it. Just some thoughts.

My extended cab 01 with the 5.3 would barely spin on good pavement when it was stock. It has a locking rear end and 265 wide tires. With the stock converter, they just don't have tire-roasting torque available instantly. I've probably got more weight on the back wheels also, which is another factor. Which LS1 engine are you running? If it's the 5.7 or 6.0, it probably should be lighting the tire up.

I'm beginning to be pretty sure its in the tuning because its def. starting off in first and just doesn't have the power till i get over about 20 or 30 mph.

I'm pretty sure I have all the torque management gone, it'll burn the one tire for like 10 ft. from a full throttle stand still launch but I know it should be a lot more than that.
