Question New cam or should i rebuild or swap motor

ok I have a rcsb 2001 with a 5.3..... I just rolled 100k on the motor and it still runs great, going to tune it up this weekend with some NGK iridium plugs and Taylor 10.4mm wires. Im wonder with this amount of miles on the motor if a cam swap is a good idea or should i just wait and swap/rebuild the motor. If a cam swap is possible what cam to use with a stock converter, and how much of a pain in the a$$ is a cam swap with the motor still in the truck. I DO NOT WANT TO PULL THE MOTOR!!! As of right now everything is stock except i cut off the factory muffler for a 3" super 40 and im getting a K&N air intake next week.....

i swapped my 60k mile old motor for a 100k mile old motor no regrets. then put a cam in it around 105k miles.

a cam swap is done easily while the motor is still in the truck. knock off the clutch fan, pull out the radiator and youll have plenty room to work with.

    old mod list: H/C/I/N/E/G 408
new mod list: 5.3, gears/posi, mufler and tune : (

These LS motors are awesome--don't even think about it having too many miles... Yeah, with the radiator out, you will have enough room for cam install/removal...

This one. Order this cam as the cam package from Texas Speed. It will include springs and pushrods.

Not bad $589 for the kit, I think I would get the Pace Setter LT along with that upgrade. Does anyone know of a cam removal and install procedure online I can look at? I have seen alot of other procedures online and if there is one for the cam it would be awesome. Also im thinking of going with the 112 lsa cam so i get that lopey idle what do you guys think?????

May inquire about cam selection to the vendor you plan to purchase from. Your decision should depend on what you want out of the powertrain. It only took me 4.5 hours (start to finish... and chuggin' beer) for a cam swap.

Then... See Nelson Performance for a custom tune to take advantage of the mods you decide on to wake up what you know is a "sleepy" powertrain. I won't guarantee that you'll beat f-bodies, but you'll have MUCH fun trying.

Getting the LT's will help the motor breathe better with the cam...go ahead and get a cold air intake--and a Shaner ported throttle body if you got the cash... A 112 would be badass dude! After you get the motor mods done (and tune), wait for a bit and see how it runs. 3.73 gears and stock rims should be fine... You may want to consider a 3000 stall afterwads...it would make all the difference in the world! You can get on LS1howto.com and get a cam install instructions there. I think it is for a Camaro/Firebird, but it is mostly the same. If you have any questions on the swap, ask us. We can walk you through it. It's easier than you think...

The real question is how much money you want to spend.
99RCSB Broke because I wasted thousands and thousands of dollars on my truck.
