    There is not set backspacing for every wheel size. Each wheel manufacturer sets their own backspacing limits. Actually, some wheels can have several different backspacing limits--it just depends upon what look you are going for...
    This seems a little bit off to me. If your wheel protrudes outward then the wheel has more of a lip which means that that the wheel has less backspacing correct?
