Maybe the snap rings came unseated???
Make sure to get your grease gun out, find the grease zerk, and fill it back up. Make sure to clean where the grease has thrown itself on the undercarriage so that in a few days you can crawl under there to see if the problem still exists.
Removing the U-joints isn't that tough. I would first drain the tranny fluid so when you take the driveshaft out the fluid doesn't go all over your face. It would be funny, but trying to save you the embarrassment.
Then remove the DS from the tranny. Remove clips. Take a torch and heat up the female ends of the U-joint for about 10 secs. Once you think the female ends are warm enough, take a hammer and punch and just hit them out. Installation goes the same: Heat up the female ends and punch in the new one.![]()
