6 speed conversion links/info please
Id like a link or info on folks that have swapped in a 6 speed into say, a 1996 gm truck that was originally auto.....or something simillar, probably go behind a 5.0/5.7 using the stock TBI for now.
Im guessing the clutch pedal, is as easy as finding a donor truck/ part?
If the truck is automatic, will the hole for the clutch master cylinder still be on the firewall, covered with a plug or will that need to be drilled out?
How far back does the crossmember need to be moved, can the stock unit be used or will it need to be modified?
Will the 96 model year or equivalent clutch master cylinder work with the t56 or will another be required (im guessing it will work fine)? Will the 96 model year or equivalent hydraullic line connect without major drama, the slave cylinder and t56 (im again guessing it would work fine)?
Will the computer cause poor engine operation if the automatic tranny is removed? I know on other makes/models, this can cause poor idle and some driveability issues. If yes, is there a simple fix or should a computer originally designed transmission delete be used?
Will the driveshaft need to be shortened? Will another model(s) driveshaft work? Will the input shaft need to be changed?
Have I asked enough questions?
If there is a link with pix or something on a simillar swap, that would be great. I googled but came up with nothing.
I have read the old threads, there are still some specific questions unanswered to this point.
Thanks
