Actually I believe that 98 was when all S-10's started coming with disc brakes. As for the axle size, sorry, I am thinking about my ZR2 and that i what it came with.
the only s10s to get disc brakes were the 99 up zr2 s10, and the 99 and up blazers. all the regular s10s, no matter if they're xtremes, or zq8s, they all come with drum brakes in the rear.
