Thread: 4/6 drop and towing questions

  1. #1
Ok, these might be a few stupid questions. I am planning on doing the 4/6 drop on my 92 scsb. I will be doing the lq9/4l80e combo.

Would you guys go with the z06 cam? if not what cam would you recommend for towing and have some power?

Has anyone done any type of towing with this drop? would it be recommended? What is i use air over leaf helper bags?

Also what gear ratio would you guys recommend to keep decent miles, and have the power to tow?

I will mostly be using the truck as my daily driver.

    thanks

if your using a flip kit for the rear, towing should be fine depending on what you are towing..i have the hanger/shackels and lowering leafs because i didnt use a flip kit the frist time i lowered it. but i still pull a seadoo and i put a 300-400lbs gun safe in the bed once and it was fine. good luck..

i will be towing a 1991 GMC syclone. So that truck is 3800lbs and the dolly is 1200. so 5000lb towing. I also have a 98 dodge ram, with a 5.9. But wanted to tow with style and have it able just incase i sale the ram.

Wouldn't it be easier to do an LQ4-80E swap instead of an LQ9-60e/65e swap instead of a LQ9-80E?

i have a 4/8 and have hauled an engine in my bed with no problems. although its only approx 530 lbs, still had no problem. the flip kit doesnt alter the spring rates of your factory suspension. you should be fine.
