Hairspray is what most ppl use...i could never get it to light....with starting fluid it only takes a small shot and works real well.
I am thinking about installing an O2 sensor so I can keep the A/F around 14.7
Heres a good website for plans and info Info

i always made them as a compressed air shooter. it takes out all the variables...basically the same exact design but no igniter and a ball release valve where the barrel starts...make the rear of it totally sealed with no cap and put a valve stem in the back of it so you can fill it up like a tire. get it around 200 psi and it will shoot way farther than any gas filled IMO. only problem is you gotta have a pretty nice compressor to get 200 psi. it still does good around 140 psi too.
I have had the best luck with cheap hairspray.
You can overload the chamber with it if your not careful and "flood the ignition"
Just a little and I can send a tater a little over 300 yards with about 12 inches of fire out the end of the barrel.
Just not a good idea to shoot in the city.
