I have a just recently put a deposit on TxSilverados' 5.3 that he was selling. He made me an offer I couldnt refuse so I jumped on it. I should be going to pay for it mid January and pick it up. I know it is extremely early to be posting this but I have so many questions running through my head and need to get it off my chest so I can get some more information.

First off, I know for a fact that I need a new wiring harness, PCM, motor mounts some misc. gaskets that can be easily replaced, exhaust manifold gaskets & bolts, flywheel and thats all. I was reading the post that Demon put up a while back and noticed it said that I don't need ALL the belt accessories. Which belt accessories will I need to replace for the 5.3?

Next question. Will I need to swap out the fuel hard lines at all? I mean ANY of the fuel lines at all? The reason I ask is because I have the ENTIRE set of brand new hard lines from the fuel tank all the way to the motor for a ext. cab Z71.

I am definately buying a set of pacesetter longtube headers, can I just modify the exhaust system I have now to fit from the long tubes? I wouldnt mind just taking the cats off, and putting some pipe in place of the cats and using the y-pipe with the flowmaster I have.

As for the rearend, I am already going to go with an eaton or auburn LSD, and a set of 4.10s. Im not waiting to get traction, I want it right away

Next question, I am going to go with an FLT 65e transmission to go behind the 5.3. Will they be able to supply a flywheel with that purchase or do I need to go ahead and get another one?

I am going to cam it and probably go with a fuddle 3000stall. I am gonna wait on which cam I feel like going with until I get closer to getting ready for the swap. I am going to be looking for a cam that is very boost friendly seeing as how a few months after the swap I am going with the front mount from trick.

I know theres alot of questions but if anyone can chime in with anything it would greatly be appreciated. I am extremely stoked about this and ready for my truck to kick some ass.

Thanks,
David

for your exhaust i would go ahead and buy the off road Y if your gonna use the pacesetters.... its alot easier than trying to modify the y pipe you have right now and plus i dont think it would flow as well..... if you see them side by side youll see a major difference in diameter....

as for a trans, you might wanna talk to Jerry... He is danny's (sprayed99) dad and can do the exact same thing as an FLT and do it at a lower price and provide a good warrenty.... my 2 pennies there

and as for a boost friendly cam i would check out TexasSpeed.com they have full cam packages that are a one stop shop...... didnt he have a cam in that engine to begin with??

also throw in a fuel rail on your list of stuff to get. if you get the pacesetters go ahead and get the ORY. it wouldnt cost much more than getting your stocker modified. if your going with a front mount...why get the pacesetters anyways?

you might need to get the throttle linkage bracket too. im not too sure what the throttle linkage bracket looks like on the 4.3...it could be the same.

i got my new flywheel on ebay for 15bux. dealership wants a lil more than 100.

check out scoggin dickey for cheaper oem gaskets.

i already sent you a pm about this, but i have a 411 pcm for $50 if you want it. thats the good year model pcm. you might be able to find one cheaper if you dig deep enough into junk yards.

thats all i can think of right now...oh, this is a cable driven throttle body. if you have a drive by wire you might need a new throttle body

well I dont know how long until I get the front mount, so I decide why not just get some decent LT's now, and just sell them when I'm ready. I mean Ill still keep the stock manifolds for when I do go turbo.

What type of fuel rail would I need to look for? As in, what body style I guess or year? Does the fuel rail from my 4.3 not fit on the 5.3?

How do I know if I have a drive by wire or cable driver wire?

I apologize for the ignorant questions. I'm not gonna half step this project.

didnt realize your a 00. you have a cable driven throttle body. you might need to change your throttle cable too...somone else will know the answer to that one. look for a fuel rail that came off of any 4.8 5.3 or 6.0 LSx engine.

Just run braided fuel lines that are flexible, instead of hard lines. Then you can run them how you want. Thats what allstar did, plus it dressed it up a little bit.
