Alright, I'm due for an oil change soon, and I may go with Amsoil. Where's the cheapest place to get it?

You have to get it from a dealer. Go to their website and use the search dealer function. Just a heads-up, thy all get it for the same price but can sell it for whatever they want. So be sure to call around.

What I don't understand is why Amsoil doesn't sell their products like everyone else. That makes me suspicious. Kinda like Amway or something(notice the similarity in the names). BTW when you read the oil bible guys site, to get more info it links you to Amsoil's site. ????? Also, if you notice they drastically beat the competition in every test, except the dyno test where they don't actually show you the results. I don't know, there is just something that I don't trust about Amsoil.

Moto, it's probably EXACTLY like Amway. The guy I talked to asked if I'd be interested in being a dealer and I got the "it's not really a pyramid scheme" line. Which when translated, means: It's a pyramid scheme. He said I would sell under him, etc, etc. Pyramid, no matter what you call it.

And yeah, the Oil Bible links you to one of AMSOIL's dealer sites, but even so, the test is publicized and if not true they would be facing huge lawsuits.

And not to be argumentative, but they didn't drastically beat them in every test. For example, go here and look at the results. AMSOIL exceeded at virtually every test, BUT on some they were VERY close to the runner-up. Don't let the bar graph make it look as drastic as it is. Look at the actual numbers. Some differences are pretty small (IE: On the High Shear test, the difference between AMSOIL and Quaker State was 3.51 as opposed to 3.37.). The determining factor for me was that, bottom line, they exceeded, and frankly I want the best there is inside my engine, especially the way I romp on it. Oh, and on the Cold Crank Simulator, AMSOIL came in 2nd. That's why I almost was just going to go with Valvoline or Mobile1 because I thought AMSOIL was like $9 a quart. Fortunately I found it for $6.

I didn't see those test results. I'm still suspicious though. Besides I run Mobil1 and they're near the top of all the charts and I don't have to go to a dealer or pay $6 a qt. I only pay $5 something Do you use their filters too or do they make oil filters? I recently started using Mobil1 filters.

Hey I'm with you. LIke I said, I was reallly close to going with Mobile or Valvoline. In fact Valvoline probably would have been my next choice. Anyway, I'm less suspicious of a company who runs and pulicizes their tests than one who doesn't do either. The only reason I really know how Valvoline rates for instance, is AMSOIL ran and showed the test.

Either way, like you said, Mobile was right at the top, and I'm sure you're going to get great results from it. And yes, AMSOIL makes filters, which are rated also, and which yes, I purchased also. More good reading on those here.
