I know a thing or two about sidebysides. The Rhino he's looking at is an 07 with less than 500 miles on it. Hell... I've already put that on my 2010. It's lifted and has aftermarket wheels, tires, and custom paint. If he can get it for what he offered, its a steal. It might need a little belt work, but not anything major.

What size lift. Those rhinos love to eat axles with the 2 or 3inch lifts

Casey the RZR 800 and 900 are the most powerful on the market. Just get ready to spend big bucks. You don't want a RZR because it doesn't have power steering... You'll need it pulling the truck. The Ranger 800 like I have has power steering, efi, and a bench seat. Buckets suck getting in and out of in a hurry! The buckets are way more comfortable for long rides, but the bench is the way to go if its a hurry hurry deal. Plus, you can fit more in the bed of a Ranger/Rhino and fit another person on the seat.
