i was browsing some sites and saw this modification i could do to my throttle body http://www.sshotrods.com/fullsize/4.3/tb/

i wanted to hear some input on it. anyone think there would be any drawbacks in doing this? would i really gain increase in hp by doing this? im assuming my gas mileage would shoot all the way down if i punch it.

thanks

seems like the engineers wouldnt put that thing there if there wasnt a reason for it...its not like they said "hmmm lets just add a useless attacment to the blade to hinder the outrageous power of the v6 motor."

kinda like the MAF screen. alot of people remove it and claim good power increases. i remove mine and get tuning problems. they wouldnt add a screen in there for shits and giggles just like the lil moon thingy on your throttle blade. but ya never know. do some before and after tests and let us know.

old mod list: H/C/I/N/E/G 408
new mod list: 5.3, gears/posi, mufler and tune : (

I replaced my TB on my 4.3 with a modded one. I think that hootus is there for emissions purposes & I think I read that it's supposed to help low speed torque or something but I can't swear to that. I didn't notice any ill effects after I replaced it. Actually my throttle would hang a bit before I replaced it(I think because of that hootus). It was quite a bit more responsive off idle afterwards but my 1/8 mile times didn't improve much at all.

I'll sell you mine if you want it. It has been polished, hootus removed, & throttle shafts halved all for improved flow. PM me if your interested and I'll send you some pics.
