    Fort Lauderdale (Vacation)

Flying out to Ft. Lauderdale for vacation July 2-6, and just really wanted to get some good ideas on things to do while I am out there. We are staying at a hotel on the beach (obviously). She and I wanted to do some of the following things.

    - Deep Sea Fishing (Which company is the best to go with? Theres lots of different businesses, not sure which would be the best)
    - Jet Ski rentals (I personally love riding jet ski's in the ocean)
    - Places to eat (on the water preferably)
    - Other things to do

Since we will be there for July 4, is there any events that take place that are pretty cool to go to?

    Any information is appreciated!

If anyone is curious why we chose ft. lauderdale, well it's because SW was having a killer deal on flights at the time to Ft. L and we got them for right under 200 RT.

Ft Lauderdale is awesome. I go every couple of years and was just there this past October. Take the ferry ride through the canals and see all the homes of former and current stars. Good times

I was thinking about doing that when we rent the jet skis, but a canal ride might be just as fun. Any other ideas?

Take the drunk boat down to the islands and back. (day trip)

My folks did a jet ski tour of the swamps. Said it was awesome.

Also, find some locals to take you to the truck swamp pits. Huge trucks on tractor tires and mud. What could be better. (just something to switch it up)

The Glades will be hell in the summer unless you take the airboat tours from the Indians. If you sit still for more than a couple minutes the gnats will carry you away. Stay completely away at dawn and dusk for the mosquitoes. The tours are usually great as the prop keeps the air moving and the bugs are screwed. Although we are in a major drought and I am not sure what areas will be accessible.

I grew up in Hollywood and now live in West Palm. Not to sure of the places you are looking for in Ft Lauderdale as I have my own skiis and don't go that far to eat. As for the 4th, they will have fireworks displays all up and down the coast as these will probably be the only areas around here allowed to light them off due to the dry conditions.

Just get ready to be hot and humid. Cool water is your friend. have a good time.
