    launching hard, safely, requires?

im used to 2500 chevys where the front end will hop and turn tires in and you need cognito pitman and idler arm brace and either tierod sleeves or larger tie rods. what all is necesary on a 1500 truck to keep from breaking a tierod or pulling all over the road like the 2500s wil with no front end parts? i see cognito make a kit for the 99-06 half tons. i have a 99 nbs 4x4 that will see a lot of launching in the near future. just dont want to break anything and wanted to see what everyone else was doing, thanks.

probab;y stock wheels and tires because i know the weight difference between having 20s on a vehicle and stock rims and tires and have seen almost 50hp on a dyno been lost by running larger wheels/tires.

and 2boostedsilverado, your front end doesnt pull you all over the road when you launch?

The cause of the pull right or left with the 4wd launch is usually having the torsion bars cranked up and having a steep cv angle. With a nice level cb angle, it will pull fairly straight. And most half tons launching are lowered and have a good cv angle. Even on my dmax, I'd drop the torsion bars all the way down, and was 100% better than with it even at stock level. Hope this helps. Good luck

The best advice I have ever heard:... Only take B( . Y . )ST advice from someone that is CURRENTLY running a turbo setup close to, or bigger than what you want......

Mic is right on the money !!!!

I have a 08 2500 Duramax CCSB 4x4 with lift torsion bar keys and with the bars level up, and 35" diameter tires. All stock and a Nelson tune.
Launching 4WD is like fightting with a bull....you have to hold the steering wheel with all you got (wonder if that contributes to the clunk in my steering shaft lol)

But on the 02 turbo truck I have lowering torsion keys, and the torsion bars almost all down. Truck launch straight as an arrow with little to no figth !!! And I have 20" on 295-45 rubbers !

i was thinking about dropping bars and taking stock block outta rear anyways...so you think ill be ok than

and on a side note, i have efi live i had tuned many trucks into the 12s with it. and i can say those trucks even with dropped bars just will not launch good. dmaxstore sells a cognito pitman and idler arm set and billet tierod sleeves thats what i recommend to most people who wanna race or pull. iv seen too many break a tie rod. and if either of you all have efi i can shoot u a tune if your interested. everything from fuel mileage tunes to ones that put 530~ to rear wheels.
