How to program key fobs for a truck

Im not sure on what all years this works for but my truck is an 03 gmc half ton and i wanted to share this to hopefully help others out

i purchased a new key fob for 50$ from the stealership.

1. Get in the truck, holding the unlock button on the DOOR cycle the key twice
2. after the locks lock and unlock, still holding the unlock button on the DOOR hold both the lock and unlock button on the fob.
3. your locks will lock and unlock and then you can pull your key out of the ignition and test your keyfob to see how it works.


i hope this is useful for someone. Ive got a lot of information on here so i just wanted to return the favor.

Also, if you have the DIC, turn key to "ON" position,press the driver information button till you get to re-program key fob, hit the Check button, hold down the lock and unlock buttons on the fob until you here a chime. Normally 6-10 seconds but hold it for 15 just to make sure. TEST

what pisses me off is that my 05 RST came with power windows and locks but no keyless entry? who the hell does that? i wont buy aftermarket keyless entry but id love a factory keyless. tried a million times to program it and it wouldnt work, went to the dealership an had the vin run... guess what sir, doesnt show keyless entry was ever in this package...
