I am trying to sell the engine and tranny out of my dads tow vehicle which was totalled when he hit an elk and went of the road, along with my toy hauler. No insurance on the trailer thus we have a 502 ht with right at 30k on it reciepts to prove my employee cost was 5998. The transmission was brand new the day before he left on the trip it has less than 600 miles on it. This engine was a bit much for the 4l80e he had replaced the trans 3 times in the 30k the engine was installed that is why he had just opted for the SRTA 3 year 36000 warranty. If anyone is interested let me know. I would like to get 5500 for them which is more than reasonable when you consider the tranny lists for 2400 and the engine 7200. I also have two complete dually rearends and a good dually bed for obs 90's gm.
Actuall they waranty was supposed to be 100,000 but since the engine was purchased from the dealer also they are fully aware of it being used behind an engine building twice the power of the stock 454. In all actuallity one of the first things tech sup. will ask when getting warranty repair approval is whether the vehicle is modified. They can't actually void it unless the mods contribute to the actual failure. That being said since this is a one ton vehicle SRTA only gives 36k but the truck never went over 12k a year so it was a sound investment prior to the elk leaving the truck totalled. Insurance didn't look very happy when presented with reciepts for the engine, trans, becool radiator, aux fans, etc. It is funny how you can pay them every month and they are wonderful but when you want your vehicle replaced they instantly turn on you. Oh well we got them to let us buy it back for 10% of the amount they settle for I am guessing we will come out, except for the trailer.
As for pics I will get some as soon as I pull the engine and tranny. This wreck only happened a week and half ago but here is a pic of the truck which is now in my yard so you can see its totalled. I plan on having it out this coming weekend. Any other questions feel free to ask.
