Put the truck on the dyno

I drove 3 hours to Baton Rouge today to have my truck tuned @ EPS. He is one of the writers of efilive and the roadrunner addition to it! He knows his stuff and also created the EPS cam lobes that many people use today! There aren't many shops nearby who are willing and ready to tackle this chore but he was happy to help me!

The day started off horrible due to bad weather and my alarm clock not going off so I kinda expected the worst! I drove 3 hours to Geoff's place and he started by altering the tune that was currently in the truck! He made five different changes in the tune just for idle and part throttle before we took off! I was amazed at the difference! We came back and put the truck on the dyno and it broke my heart! The tune wasn't set up for 10 psi so it was safe! Geoff looked it over and made an initial pass of 372 hp and we were stunned! He looked over the log and I had ZERO timing! He made a total of 15 dyno runs today and the truck ended up making 513/567 on pump gas and 16 deg of timing! On to the pics!!!!!

you really need a custom cam. Ducky 5.3 is making more power at 14 psi.....

i dont doubt a custom cam would help but im on 10 psi and conservative timing and relatively rich afr..... it could make more power but I don't wanna worry about popping the motor every time I go out! thanks for the heads up though! He also has meth and if im not mistaken he isn't running this through a 4l80 right? Idk there are tons of comparisons as to why his 5.3 made more power but I am not trying to compare! I wanted 500 to the wheels and on the old setup with 7psi it went 12.51@111 just like I drive it. I am happy if it only makes 10 horsepower as long as its fun to drive!

After seeing foose' setup on his 4.8 I am wondering why my numbers are so low! lol yeah I have 65e/meth. Thats still damn good power though for your truck on just 10lbs.

thanks and props to you as well! Yea im sad cause he is in the 6xx, but like dave chapelle said e85 is one hell of a drug haha! That stuff works wonders with timing, but i can't spend enough on a fuel system and retune and pumps to support e85 then have trouble filling up the truck when i need it haha! I plan to add meth soon cause my truck should make a little more, but really the number is not what i am worried about cause you can put it on another dyno and pick up 50 hp or lose 50 hp...... I want a time slip and a weight and you can calculate hp with no correction crap and no stingy dyno haha!

amazing what going from 7psi to 10psi feels like on your butt!!!!!!! man 65mph tire spin is so much fun.......I see tires in my near future

thanks guys! I was suprised at how soon the boost came on, before the tune I had a little lag on the street but now the boost comes on with little throttle and makes all its power instant! So much fun to roast street tires under 70 at will! Im gonna roll the truck like this for a while since my wife is pregnant, after the baby I hope to do a 370 and some more boost Its just a daily driven street truck, not much on the track since its almost 2 hours to the closest 1/4 track anyway.

very solid numbers for 10psi thru an 80e

as for turbo setups on e85. you can expect typically 10-15% more power at same psi level just using E85

also dynoing thru a manual will always net higher numbers then thru an auto

it ain't that I'm too big to listen to the rumors, It's just that I'm too damn big to pay attention to 'em..That's the difference
