    Opinions...

I have the opportunity to get a truck, but a co-worker of mine is interested in buying it and has "dibs".

The truck is a 1990 Chevy (Silverado or C1500....?), extended cab, solid medium blue, with 83,000 miles. Not sure of the engine size but I do know all service has been done by the dealer. It is owned by an elderly man who worked at GM for years and bought the truck new. It is in extremely good condition.

He offered it to my co-worker for $1,800. He agreed to it, but I believe is letting it sit there til tax refund time and paying for it then. Here's the kicker...we've been jokingly going back and forth about me giving him "x" amount of dollars to walk away. Started at $250, he thought about it, said no. Then he said $500. But now said no to that because he's getting such a good deal on the truck. I just talked to him and he said he'd walk away for $1,000. Yes, he'd be getting the money for 'nothing', but I'd essentially (and that's all I care about) be paying $2800 + TT&L for the truck.

So what does everyone think? Worth doing?

Thats a long time for someone to hold a truck on someones word of getting the money later.

Do you know the owner as well? If not make buddies with him at the local pub. BS about this and that. If he brings up he has a truck for sale tell him you'll buy it. When you show up at work and the co-worker is pissed. Act stunned and be supprised when he tells you that that is the truck.

The variables are as stated. I'm not going to talk him down anymore...I already know he won't budge on the $1,000.

Just need opinions based on what I wrote.

2800 for something that clean is a helluva deal. You guys don't know how lucky you are, that would be a $6000 truck here.
