yeah get it right in the same area...the 317's are a 72cc head and the 243's are a 66cc i believe so that right there will bring a 9.4 up to the 10.0 of the LQ9, or at least very very close to it.

Ian this would be a great setup as the benefits of the 80e, it's a swap you need or will need to do to get away from all the BS 60e problem you have/will keep having

    LQ4 with 243 heads is 10.4 cr

using a LQ4 you get away with a slighty dish so it has some room for PTV over teh LQ9. However you got a mill heads just to get the compression up so there goes your PTV

not like you loose a lot...he can still run a plenty big cam, specially if he's going boost on this stock motor he dont wanna go to extreme...and he wont have the PTV issue

im considering the same thing. Any ideas how a ls1 with longtubes truck intake and tune would compare to a stock 6.0 with longtubes and tune?

Probably more HP than a lq4. Less than a lq9... The higher cr of the 5.7 will help it out perform a lq4 I would think. Only reason I am considering a lq4 would be to run l92 heads later on

i picked my lq4 up for 500 off of craigslist for 500.00 its the 99-2000 not exactly sure until later this week when i go pick it up and see the actual truck it was pulled from. i decided to keet the 4l80e tranny that was bolted up to it from the factory so i dont have to worr about the crank clearance issues normally associated with this particular year engine.

keep looking and you will find one. mine has 160k on it, but it wont be running until later this year so i got time to get it built how i want it before i NEED it to run.
