    Another 6.0 Swap

I just purchased a good running 2001 6.0 for my 2001 Silverado w/4.8. I drive this truck 5 days a week 80 miles round trip to work. My question is what can I do to the 6.0 to increase performance and not take a huge hit on driveability or gas mileage. It is a LQ4 engine. I can do any of the work myself but just don't have any experience with the LS Series engines. Can you shave the heads to get to the LQ9 compression and is it worth it? Would a stock Z06 cam and springs be a good choice? I have read that shorty headers on these engines is a waste of time. Is that the case? My truck has 3.08 gearing. The trans has a stock converter. I just don't want to reinvent the wheel here so if you have some good experience with what I am looking to do please let me know. Thanks Keith.

I dont think you have 3.08 gears. But 4.10s will make a huge difference. I would go with a bigger can then that and a small conveter like the circle D restalled tb stall. And get a Nelson tune....Nelson Performance - Performance without Sacrificing Drivability

if you put some smaller chambered heads on there you can make some more power without anymore gas

that sounds like 3.42 gears. 4.10s will wake it up for sure though

The original window sticker says 3.08 but that seemed a little strange to me since the truck also has the towing package and six lug suspension. Not trying to sound like a know it all but that is what it says. I will check it and I hope you guys are correct.

The window sticker says GU4(3.08) but the sticker in the glove box say GU6 (3.42) with G80 posi. Did GM put 4.10 gear in these trucks? What will that do for gas mileage? This is my daily driver..
