    Part interchange questions

Alright I have a 99 rcsb with a 4.8. I need a new/used abs booster controller(under the drivers side door) They have a 2000 and a 2001 silverado or sierra at the junk yard are the controllers interchangeable? Or will they need to be reflashed or what/

Also what trucks or our magnitude hade bigger disc front and rear, I want to do an upgrade but have to think I can find/build a kit better then 400oo.

I am under the impression that all 99-02 sierra/silverados are interchangeable so am I correct?

Do i need the computer from a 5.3 to change to that engine from a 4.8? and do I need the 6.0 computer if I go that route?

    Thanks guys,
    Mike

You'll probably need a computer if you don't get a tuner. If you do get a tuner you can use that 4.8 computer for any engine you want. I guess I've heard of people swapping motors and using the old computer, but I would think you'd run into trouble with your MAF etc.

My guess on the abs controller is that they're the same unit for both?

the controllers are the same, had to do change mine out before, cant help ya on the brakes but the 4.8 computer will work fine on the 5.3 or 6.0 just will need to be tuned for it.

Mike, the booster controllers will be the same.

The 05 and up trucks had the bigger front brakes. This is because GM went back to the front disc/rear drum setup that year. And when they did, they upgraded the front brakes. Just pick up some front brakes from an 05 truck that had discs in front, drums in rear.

Or if you want even better brakes, do the Hydraboost conversion.

All 99-02 Silverados are the same. All 99-02 Sierras are the same.

The original computers can be used, but they have to be flashed for the type of engine it is plugged in to. Example, you can run a 4.8L on a 6.0L computer, but it has to be reflashed for a 4.8L.

The 99-02 PCMs are the same. The 03-07 Classic PCMs are different.
