Thread: Muffler Replacement

Is there a muffler that is a direct replacement for the factory one on a 2500HD 6.0? Something that would offer an increase in performance, but without resonance and drone. It seems a shame to remove all that large diameter stainless steel pipe and replace it with new piping just to get a muffler with a new cat-back.

    Thanks,

    Mark

Call flowmaster's 800# and tell them what you want to do. They have a specific model for the 6.0L HD truck. I called and talked to them when I wanted to replace the muffler on my SS, he told me of a couple that were intended as replacements on HD trucks. One is 530504 which is a dual 3"in/dual 2.5" out. I think your truck is a dual in/single out and they have one like that too.

I'll give Flowmaster a call. The muffler looks about 25" long with dual inlets/outlets. Thanks for the info.

I heard that even those large Flowmasters will drone pretty hardcore...I'd look into a Magnaflow. The have a HUGE 5x11x22 3" dual in/3" dual out. www.magnaflow.com

I like the Magnaflow sound a lot!

You could also try a spintech muffler, or get an x pipe and run duals
