Well, my Transgo and other trans pieces are in; along w/ a retune from Allen. After driving for about week, the conclusion is that the 1-2 shift is just a little to radical for an old codger like me Seriously, any 1-2 shifting over ~2500 RPM is seriously hard and tire barking. At WOT that may be great, but trying to merge into highway traffic w/ the tires trying to break loose is just not good.

Along w/ a Sonnax Vette servo, I used NO TG spacers in the 1-2 accum and drilled the 1-2 feed in VB plate using the small bit. So you guys planning to do this work, BE CONSERVATIVE. Now, if you want eyeball popping, teeth jarring 1-2 shifts, then go for it!

Overall i really like the results. Allen did a great job on the retune. The positive effect of that servo release check valve is really noticeable for both 2-3 and 3-2 shifting. Very nice.

Just talked to Allen a bit ago and he's going to tweak my tune a little to reduce the 1-2 shift hardness. Something about shift delay. He's going to do what he can to prevent me from going back in to make mechanical changes. One of the reasons many of us use Nelson: Customer Service

Mine was like that at first and I also had Allen retune mine so the 1-2 part throttle shifts were softer. I'm sure he can get yours alot better if not perfect.

Got the Nelson (re)retune this evening w/ the shift adjustments and gave it a drive. You were right, Allen pretty well nailed it for me!

Allen dialed it in so well i will probably make some shift firmness adjustments in a couple weeks. Since that servo check valve really does a nice job, will definitely open up the 2-3 VB feed hole slightly from .120" to .1285" (#30 bit). This will be fine since i lost some of the initial 2-3 firmness w/ due to Allen's tweaks; i don't consider that a problem though.

May now add a one TG spacer to the 1-2 accumulator (none in there now), but no messing w/ the 1-2 VB feed hole. I'm not 100% sure on this one. Need to drive around for week or so before finally deciding on the spacer.

Finally, props to Allen Nelson big time! Allen knew i was in tough position w/ the hard shifting, and really showed trust in me by sending out the retuned PCM before he had even received my current core. Obviously i would not expect this special treatment under normal circumstances, but he really came through for me in this case!
