When I did my LT1/T-56 swap I had to shorten my driveshaft 1.5 inches. I got it done for $94 which included shotening, 2 u-joints installed, balanced, blasted, and painted!
As far as the shifter position it really isn't bad. If I wanted to I guess I could cut and weld in a little kicker to move it over about 2 inches to the left.
Get a truck 5-speed pedals and master cylinder. I had to make a brass adapter to adapt the funky hydraulic fitting on the slave cylinder line to connect to the truck master cylinder. I now that SLMDLS1 over on fullsizechevy.com didn't have this problem.
If you don't get a 6-speed wiring harness good luck on finding out how to use connectors for the vss, back up lamp switch, and reverse lockout selenoid.
I also had to move my crossmember back and make some knew bolt holes. I custom make a center counsel out of MDF and wrapped it in suede leather, you will definately need buckets. Get a T-56 tranny mount and I think that is it.
