current mods: dual flowmaster exhaust headman headers no cats, k&n cai, nelson tune
2000cfm each seems high. most aftermarket 16's put out closer to 1200-1400.
That being said... i have 2 10" (i think) ls1 fans, and they are slight overkill. I'd say atleast 1600cfm total should be fine as long as most of the radiator is covered.
blown transmissions are about as useful as 97% of the guys on this forum
I don't think you could ever go "overkill" on fans, especially if you live where you have hot summers. I have to upgrade my fans cause they cant keep up with the heat, and goin to go with dual 16's at about 2100cfm each... Cheap insurance

Wouldn't hurt to have about 4500cfm especially if you do any towing
