Is there a way of "beefing" up the 4L60e? If so, what does it entail? I'd like to put in the 80e, but don't have the skills or money to modify the truck to fit one in there. I'm pretty sure that's the tranny I've got. 2004 4.8L

2010 Silverado ECSB LS 4x4. Only mods so far are a K&N drop in filter and a Rough Country 2" front level kit

Easy as hell. only things needed are a crowbar and a flathead (a quart of tranny fluid standing by would be smart)

The difference between winning and losing, is having a 2nd stage.
FLT comes to mind if you want it built..
if not, like they said a Vette Servo and a tune goes along ways.
the 80E swap is easy if you have a 2wd btw.
2000 ECSB Silverado 12.5@111
1993 RCSB S-10 Stock- for now-
For cheap mods I would definitely go with the vette servo and after market trans cooler.I got over a 150,000 miles out of my 60e with those mods.
2005 Chevy CC, Airaid cai, Gibson cat back, Nelson tune, corvette servo, Circle D 3000 stall, Circle-D built tranny,Speed Daddy headers
Derale Deep Transmission Pan with cooling tubes(you gain a little capacity and shed alot more heat)
HD2 Shift Kit +1
Transcooler +1
Vette Servos +1
Superior Billet Super Servos!!!! worth it
Fresh Clean Mercron Fluid, cut it short a half quart and pour standard atf or B&M trick shift in for the rest, you'll get crisper shifts which means your clutch packs aren't burning themselves up. and

It is a 2WD. How easy is "easy"? Also, how does the Vette servo work and benefit?

basically, it gives a bigger surface area over the stock servo giving u more apply pressure. its said to give 50% more pressure over stock, and i deff. back that up. and it makes the 1-2 and 2-3 shift quicker and firmer. w/ my 5.3 and bolt-ons, my tires chirp when i shift into 2nd. most deff. worth the $20. you can also get it cheaper if you go to oregon performance's ebay and buy it from there.

So can I get away with just doing the servo or is that going to damage or shorten the life of the tranny? I'm a Paramedic, so i don't make squat or have a lot of money to spend.
