    thinkin about a trick turbo

now if i got this could i build my 4L60E to handle the hp? if yes how much u think it would cost? i know some people are gonna say just get a 4L80E but after the turbo money will be a kinda tight

you realise you will actually spend a lot more than just the turbo kit right? theres the supporting mods. your fuel system will need upgraded, you'll need a full built tranny, guages, and lots I'm missing

his fuel system is fine for moddest boost just upgrade injectors and pump

a properly built 60e will handle moddest boost levels. just dont get greedy where a much beefier trans is needed

+1 to what quik said. It will handle it... for awhile. The 4l60 is crap IMO. Even a fully built one will go with enough power. Just so you know I paid 1700 to have mine built. I could probably have got a 4l80 for less and had more. You can bout add 1500 to a turbo kit in just supporting mods. Then if you dont put it on yourself.... and tune....
I say go for it. Just be ready for a stupid bill in the end. For the money though and how much will will be able to squeeze from it later down the road its more than worth it.

Eh..Ian--come on--a 4L60e isn't CRAP! Its a decent tranny when built right. A LVL 5 60e can handle around 500 rwhp, but not day in/day out for 10 years...

An 80e requires a new custom made crossmember and it is quite a big hunk of tranny to get moving--it sucks down (like Jay's mom) a lot of power to get it moving.

Tyler speaks of "sucking down" from experience. All that time spent "at the gym." Not to mention, as you can see above, he talks about "hunks" and "trannies". Make your own conclusion.....

Yes, I do speak from experience--your mom is fan-fvcking-tastic!

And my gym time involves doing man things--like lifting weights and gawking at hot chicks in tight, skimpy gym outfits. Don't hate cause your fat ass never goes to the gym Jay. Its cool.
Speaking of not going to things--what is this malarkey about you not coming to Little Mexico next weekend?

I'm a firm believer in "do it once, do it right" when possible.

In retrospect, if I were to put money towards a transmissions, it would ONLY be toward a 4L80e or a TH400. No way I would spend money on a 65e when the same money could go toward something that is far more reliable. Yeah, the 60e can be built to handle around 500rwhp...I'm making 450ish and broke two in one month.

    Why take the chance...?

there is currently a 60e in the 10s behind a 408 silverado. its all in how the trans was built. ive seen alot of FLT 60s fail and ive seen solid times and HP from privatly built 60s

ON the law of percentage. More 60e s fail then hold up though. If 1 out of 10 will hold the power and then 7 out of 10 on the 80e holds the power... well to me the answer is go with what has a better chance of living longer.
