    help on mods

i am stuck and dnt know what to do. i have a 4.8 motor for starters and want to make it quick without doing anythin major like turbo to superchargers and i dnt want to do a motor swap. what are some pretty cheap ways to get the most out of my little 4.8. oh yeah its in a 03 regency sport side truck. i already have cold air. bully dog. e fans and exhaust
I just recently had a guy come to me with a 1987 Buick Grand National that Had 1,200 miles on the build and 62k miles on the car. All forged bottom end, Street elim alum heads that had abt 3500 dollars worth of work in them. 3" down pipe, precison turbo 25-30 lbs of boost 6:1 wheel. F.A.S.T Computer system to run it and much much more. By the way the car is CLEAN as hell. I dont think the guy knew what he had. BTW I had to trade my 03 regency for the car. Did I come out on top or bottom?

lt headers = Long Tube Headers. Better flow, especially up top.

    Nelson Performance - Tuning
Thats how to order a tune. Mail Order from Allen is pretty damn accurate if your not running any big power adders.

The gears kind of depend on the route your going with the truck. If you want to cam your truck, put a turbo on, supercharge it, or just spray the hell out of it. Once you decide kind of the direction your going on, you can then pick the gears that will best fit your application. You will most likely end up with 4.10s because most applications respond better to 4.10s then any other gearing ratio.

Go with 410 gears for sure. And as far as ordering the tune on the front page there is a link to nealsons page.

And once that is done, you will be so happy about the mods you have done that you will wanna get some more! After that, go ahead and do pulleys, GMPP ASA Hot Cam, a 3200 stall, and a built tranny.

Follow in my foot steps. Get a good cam, tune, headers, servos and get a stall. You'll be moving then.
IMO its cheaper to buy a 6.0 and install it then it is to buy all those I mentioned and install on the 4.8. With all my mods I make 317whp 300wtq. Chevylee has a LQ9(6.0) with intake headers and a tune. He makes about the same power with more torque. Take my mods on his motor and you'll have 50-100whp more.
You can get lucky and find a good 6.0 for $1000. you'll spend at least $2500 on mods on the 4.8
edit. Nitrous, 4.10 gears, and a locker, makes a world of difference.

He can always swap over the parts if he decides to swap in a 6.0.

well i took the bullydog back. its going to be a few weeks before i get the nelson tune. but i will get that for sure. i also need to focus on my tranny bc it started slipping a little on and off. i might go with a cam and gears after that. but that will be as far as i go with that 4.8l
