    Tranny Oil Change

well I called FLT, but saw they were closed till monday. I havent touched the fluid since I bought the transmission in april, but I would like to go ahead and change it this week so I can get in the habit of doing it at the end of each year.

Question I have is, is it a good idea to change the filter as well when doing the fluid?

    - What kind of fluid should I use?
    - What kind of filter?

Vince has always recommended OEM speced oils and filters on changes. No synthetics. If I were doing annual changes I'd probably do a filter every other change but I only drive mine maybe 10k a year.

Does the 65e take more quarts or its the same size shell as the 60e? Any recommendations on fluid? I havent changed transmission fluid in foreverr

Is there a special tool to get the filter out? I know when I did it the last time, it was such a bitch for some reason. The o-ring or something was given me troubles. Like i said its been a while since I have changed it and I definately dont wanna mess nothing up.

The 65 and 60 will use the same amount of fluid as long as they have the same factory pan on them. The filter should simply pull out. I would not change the seal for the filter because it was new when it was built. Also it can be a PIA to get the old one out and in most cases more bad than good is done. I would just lube the new filter neck and reinstall it. Vince

Why not use synthetic? Does it hurt the transmission?

Hey Ducky, I take it you have the factory pan. Since you have it lowered, have you ever thought about getting an aluminum pan? Or would the deep one be too low? How about a shallow one?

I think a deeper finned type pan will help with cooling. I thought about getting a deeper one, but mine is already so cool now. I might when I get a verter in
