PCM swap?

Does anyone know if a PCM from a 99 4.3 is any different from a 5.3 PCM in regards to reprogramming?

I may have a source for a core PCM from a 4.3 and would like to have it re-programmed for my 99 5.3. I want to send it to Nelson for the programming if it will work.

The guy that has the 4.3 PCM wants me to make an offer on it. it is a good unit that came out of a truck that was rolled. I told him I would need to see how much it costs to re-program it stock (if it will interchange) before I use that figure to formulate my offer to him.

anyone have any idea?

Hello phantomdaz,

Unfortunately, the pcm's are different. The s10's that are 01+ will work, anything before that is a different pcm.
Check out some of the junkyards, you may find one pretty cheap.

Ok I had some brain flatulance I asked if a 4.3 PCM would work in a 5.3 silverado.....What I meant to ask was will a PCM from a 4.8 silverado work in my 5.3 silverado if it is reprogrammed. Both vehicles are 1999
