Ok my first Lt-1 kicked my but because I did not know all the
details of purging a reverse flow setup, so I'm asking in advance
    of doing my ls1 04 5.3.

Is there any tricks to getting air out? How much fluid will I loose
    out the housing?

I filled my rad up before reattaching the upper hose to the thermo neck. Since there is no rad cap just use the upper hose as a fill tube.

That pretty much made me ready to run. I had only to add a bit more coolant to the resivoir and was good to go.
