super unleaded will do that
Vortec Performance Tuned
LQ9 built 4L60 LTs and a billion miles on the speedo!
I have never seen that. Post pics. Sounds like maybe oxidation, or maybe oil burned on the plug.
is it bright red or like dark maroon?

that is the first indicator of snake oil booster....
use a MMT (metal based) booster and the red plugs will not happen.....the additives in 95+% booster create the red plugs.....
TORCO
OCTANIUM
NOS (RACING FORMULA)
are all MMT derived boosters.....they can achieve octane levels just shy of 100 and work great in my truck with LOTS of timing and NITROUS.....on a boosted application it would work wonders......
from a dollar per ocatane to 10 gallons of gas you can pretty well achieve the same results with 93 octane base fuel and adding 110/111 UNLEADED race gas.....buy 55 gallons and add 5 gallons to the tank right before a fill up when you need the extra timing.....this is my new plan i have yet to find the fuel supplier of choice yet.....i live right by an airport too so i may be buying aviation unleaded which i believe is 116....

If it is only on bank 1 I would not suspect any fuel system additive. When I run a tad lean, the fuel mark on the porcelin could be mistaken for "reddish" if the plug is not cut open for further investigation. Anyway I would like to see a pic of all 4 plugs from bank 1 and all 4 from bank 2 before I begin to guess at the cause. Cut open for the pics would be my preference, but if you dont want to buy new plugs then just good quality pics will get us in the ballpark.
Now if they look like this:
It could be an octane booster, but only one bank makes me want to see yours. I know these plugs show many other engine problems, so I am glad they are not mine!!![]()
I did use some octane boost when I first started the truck. But I haven't used any since.
Yeah they look about that red maybe a little darker. I actually only pulled one off of bank two cause i didn't feel like pullin my dip stick off. its a little harder to get in there with that turbo header. The one on bank two was light brown.
More like the one on the very left i'd say. If it was lean wouldn't it throw a code for bank one?
