Well, I finally broke down and ordered some Autometer Sport Comp gauges. I got the trans and engine temp, oil pressure, fuel in the 2 1/16" size and the 3 3/8" 160 electric speedometer and 8K tach.

I'll fab me up an aluminum face plate to replace the stock cluster.

I'll figure it out eventually haha, but does anyone know if i can just plug the vss signal into the speedometer input on the gauge? it says it's for like 200 to 40,000 ppm. I guess I can.
Then I guess the white wire is the one to use for the tach.

    thanks,

I've read that the Autometer won't work with the output from the PCM(something about it being a squarewave output). You have to tap into the wire on the speed sensor on the transmission. As for the tach use the 4 cyl setting to get proper readings and tap into the wire you have on your shift light.

I wish there was a good place for an aftermarket tach to sit in our trucks ... I sure would like to know hwat's going on passed 6k rpm.

I have a full set of Autometer gauges in my truck right now, I think they are the street rod series. It has a programmable speedo that I just hooked up to the wire that was on my harness for speedo, I don't know if its coming from the tranny or pcm but it works. Just went on the interstate and programmed it between two mile markers, piece of cake.

Heres a pic of the panel I made to go in the stock dash, pretty easy to make, just get good hole saws and use a drill press to do the holes. I'm redoing my paint because this came out pretty bad as you can see in the pics and I'm also doing a red accent around the gauges, truck was getting a little too black.

Anyways if you have any more questions I'd be glad to help you out.
