last friday night me and "1500 sleeper" were cruising around town in my z28 when this lightning passed. I noticed it was the same lightning i had raced a couple weeks back that took my truck. I thought i'd see how my Z would do against it this time around. I get the drivers attention to follow me and we come to a light on the out skirts of town and no body is around except for some headlights i see coming up around the bend behind us. as soo as i see the headlights appear behind us me and the lightning take off i get a good launch and take it to about 65-70 where i shut it down cuz i got an obvious lead of ~ 1.5-2 lenghts, which was enough for me on the street. well as i start to slow down i look in the rearview and notice those headlights coming up hard on my bumper. i look again and notice that the car has a lightbar on top , so I continue to slow down and just level my speed where the fhp does the same for about half a mile. then the lightning turns off and the fhp continues on by me-whew. i dont know why the cop didnt pull me but i just want to thank him for not.

I read the topic and thought, "he got a ticket" b/c everyone always says "thank you you fucking cop" or something. I'm surprised he didnt pull you over, but then again, you might not have been exceeding his idea of wreckless driving.

We need more cops like him, here, they use to not give a damn about racing, but for some reason, they are cracking WAY down on the very few that race.

You got pretty lucky, around here you would have gone straight to jail. But, since it was dark he may have not seen that you were racing.

I'll tell you the reason...the freaking "fast and the furious" which "opened" peoples eyes to whats going on. plus it sparked all these ricer bishes to start actin crazy like the morons that half of them are. after that movie and the advent of the "ricer evolution" we've since had a new department started in our tpd that focuses on aggressive driving and street racing, etc. then the sheriff's got a couple ls1 z28's and now the fhp has a whole fleet of 2k2 z's to add to the scene but, nevertheless i'm going to see "2 fast and 2 furious" when it comes out.

I'm going to see it also.. nah, its not of the movie, they JUST started cracking down, like 6m onths ago, where as, after thatmovie cae out, they didnt' give a shit. We got stupid one night and raced around a fountain, in the middle of downtown, 5pm rush, on the sidewalk and didn't ever get into any trouble. Dont know who seen us, but we were there for 4-5 minutes running in circles chasing my cousin and his old Yota.

We use to go looking for races in a friends 89 s-dime, 4 banger/5-speed, beat some stuff, got owned by some other stuff...

It seems like the police are only now going after street racers b/c the public knows more about it, instead of just the racers/cops, like before.
