    Looking for a cam

I am trying to find a cam. I can get a Z06 cam super cheap from a hook up. But I want to get the optimal performance for it. And should I decide if i am going to do a turbo before picking a cam. Next upgrades are going to be 4.10 gears, trutrac, and stall converter. Looking at the 3000 or 3200 yank. Unless you guys have other ideas.

Im still trieng to decide the same thing bro. Allot of these guys say z06 cam is cool, others say not cool, either way you go on cam you gotta upgrade the springs and pushrods. Im just gonna wait and Get a cam, springs, retainers, lifters, pushrods, valves, ect.. along with P/P heads maybe cryotreated and thermal coated all in one shot. May be more exspensive but It will be worth it.

A Z06 cam in a 4.8L would be fine, but plan on doing some rockers as well... If you are going FI, then you need to plan your mods specifically for it. Same thing is you stay N/A. Having your motor perform at it's greatest potential has a lot to do with how your mods work together...

That sounds like the best way to go. I think I will just end up cam springs and rods and retainer clips.

I agree with txarkitekt...i am planning on going FI with a blower this coming summer....i bought the headers, rods, springs and a LPE GT2-3 cam...cam works with both N/A and FI, hence why i bought it...once everything is installed i will post dyno for all mods as it stands as N/A...

Yeah they cost but, but its all the time power not now and then power. Plus I dont want worry about the problems that come with prolonged use of Nos. I am waiting to the first of the year when Allen is coming out with the new front mount turbo kit.

Damn dude--who did you consult for the cam? That is the perfect cam for what you are doing...good call! Your truck is going to be ridiculous! You are also going about it the right way---buying up the mods then waiting to put them all in at once. That is the way I started out with things too---I figured I'd wait and do everything at once so you feel the performance boost vs. installing them as you go--that way, it is harder to feel the gains...

Not to take customers away from Allen, but Trick has a nice FMT...

I dont know what the price of the Trick is gonna be but the one from Allen should be cheaper. I think he said it was going to come with fuel pump, injectors, and innercooler. For around 4k. I am will in to wait on that, plus he is only 15min from my door.
