    I need help!

hey. i have a 03 RCSB 5.3L i am Doing some research on mods before i waste money on the wrong specs. i have a monster transmission, Yank 3200, and 373s on order. i have volant cold air, borla exhaust w/ no cats, electric fans, asp pulley, throttle body spacer, street tires, and diablo sport. im ordering cam, intake, headers, 410s(selling the 373s). but should i have my stock heads worked or buy heads? im looking at the TR220 112 and springs and rods for stock heads. Maybe some machine work. I am stumpt about what to do to my heads. If you can give me any info i would appreciate it alot.

    Thanks,
    Matthew

i'm doing something similiar, except i have a 4.8, and i'm going with the same cam. I'm taking my heads off altogether, when i get my cam, and am going to have a local shop port and polish them. You could upgrade to ls6 heads, or have yours port and polished, it just depends what you going for, and how much money you want to spend.

Guess i should have asked wat to actually get done to my heads. Im not going to just drop them off at the machine shop and tell them to port them. How much do i need them ported?

I live in Monroe, louisiana. Im either going with a dyno nelson tune after the mods or a nelson mail order tune and get it dynoed at Thunder Racing. I just need to know how much to port my heads.

But as far as the Diablo sport, i can have a custom tune uploaded off a lab top into the diablo.

Your stock heads will work fine, just have them cleaned up, do a 3-angle valve job, and have the whole valvetrain balanced... And the diablo is ok...if you want something that is "ok." The Nelson tune will work MUCH better...

I am going with the NELSON TUNE when i install the cam. So just a 3 angle valve will do? Dont need any porting? I have an extra set of stock heads so sending them off for porting and polish would not result in down time of vehicle. want it to be pretty strong. Expecting mid-low 12s on motor. With a good head job.

In addition to a 3-5 angle valve job have them blend the bowls, knock down the rocker arm boss that protrudes into the intake runners. Also if your staying NA have them mill the heads down to bring up the compression some.

Everyone says port the heads a little. How much is a little? I am looking for exactly how much to port and mill if i go that route to. Specific specs. This is the only thing holding me back. Ive been trying to get an exact measurement for lil over a month. Never thought id be looking this long. I got everything i need to run mid-low 12s except how much porting needs to be done. ive gotten a couple responses from friends but they havent actually had it done to theres. They just gave me a figure that they thought would do. I dont want to take that chance.
