I posted this in the mechanical forum, but got no response. Is there anyone that knows about these shackles? Or 2000 and up shackles in general?

I recently ordered a set of McGaughy's lowering shackles like someone on here suggested. They came in today and the invoice says "88-98 chevy truck, 2wd, 1/2 ton." They are supposed to be for my '04 truck. Are they one in the same? Will they work on these year models as well as mine? Thanks in advance!

IMHO do not use shackles to lower the rear, they create pinion angle problems.... personal experiance. SCIV used shackles first and had problems. Now he has lowering springs and no problems. Besides the annoying squeeeeeking you will get a shudder, mine was between 15 and 40, not good.

    Nice ride

i did the shackle and hanger drop kit on my tuck...... honestly i dont see what the huge difference could be... they only took me bout 30 miutes to install with a floor jack on the ground.... try and fit em on there... if it doesnt work you havent lost much time and send em back for the correct ones..

btw are you gonna make it down to the meet in Nov??

we don't have an issue lowering ours b/c we have 1 piece drive shafts. those with 2 piece driveshafts tend to get a lil vibration

Looks good. How about under accelleration, does it make a grinding noise fron the carrier bearing? I want to do mine, but I think I will go with the springs like SC?
