Took the truck to the dealer 2 weeks ago and they changed the gasket.
Got the roll pan done and noticed the rear still has oil on it. Take it in and they get me a loaner......
    ......
    .....
Call at 2PM. "Jeff, What vehicle did they give you? Will you like it for a week??!!"

The pass side tube into the main rear body has two weld holes in the cast body. One of the welds came loose and the casting started to crack.

I ask the service writer if it is me abusing it and he said it was a bad casting. Then he tells me that there are no 14 bolt rearends in stock anywhere availible. The rearend with no parts is close to $1500 and a complete 14 bolt rearend is close to $5500.

So the mechanic tops the oil off and then the service writer tells me they are keeping my toy until the new housing comes in. They are going to swap over everything when the new housing comes in......

These Trailblazers just don't have the kahones I am used to. And my truck is so much more comfortable

So the question is: Has anyone else ever had the weld point crack or leak?????

Yeah, after going from something with power to something thats underated for a big vechicle kinda sucks. One of my buddies has a trailblazer and he liked it because it had power and whatnot, but hes used to the 4 cyl s10 that he drives. He doesnt drive much with anything more acceleration than his wifes trailblazer though.

Yep seen it many times. Not on the nbs but I have seen several when I worked in a service shop doing oil changes yrs back. You would see the build up on the axle housing where they had been leaking for a while and some of the diffs would be almost bone dry. I seen one where the crack was almost all the way around the axle tube also. It cracked right at the weld point. Not the actual weld but right next to it.

They JB Welded it for now and took back the POS Trailblazer..>>>

"When" they get the new axle in, appx 2 weeks, they will have it for 2 days.......

Funny thing is the sales people look at my truck and say that the leak is not a warrenty issue and the Service Writer is a freind and he says there is no way I should be able to break that weld. Good to have freinds
