    I just read an article on a 1/2 ton silverado getting the magnacharger.

    I know these kits are nice, but wtf, their horsepower results are very questionable, before and after the install.

    I'm looking right at the dyno graph and comments and it says a stock 5.3L (i think it was a 5.3L, it was an ext. 1/2 ton truck) dynoed before the install at:

    HP = 279
    TQ = 296

    Ya right, the most any of those trucks were rated at were 290hp (that's '03), Right?

    After the Radix Install:
    403/425tq

    This is bullshit right? The engine is rated at 290hp (the install was actually on an older one, probably a 2000) how in the hell can the hp be 279 at the wheels.?
    I thought all the trucks were pulling about 215 to 230 at the wheels.

    This is a very good example on why I'm getting a SuperFlow Dyno.
    or
    Maybe Magnacharger slipped them some money to fudge the numbers.

    Maybe someone can read the article and see if I'm reading this right.

    later,

    there are a bunch of variables on a dyno you can play with. What kind of dyno was it? All the dyno's show different numbers at the same time. It could have made that, but the variables would have been messed with.

    Ya, i have no doubt thier dyno produced those number, but they are very wrong, the 5.3L on produces 285 from 02 and older.
    So, that's def. messed up.

    Not sure what kind of dyno, I just scanned the dyno results and left. I'll have to check it out again.

    Take the lowest numbers on a pull (bad run). Compair that to a good run.

    The gain sounds about right. Going from 279 HP to 403 HP is a 44% increase. I was not able to dyno my truck to do a before and after, since I could not find an AWD dyno big enough. I am able to compare EFILive logs with a stock SS and this is what the chart looks like. The HP numbers on the graph are derived from the torque reported by the trucks computer and logged with EFILive. While the numbers are good for comparing two vehicles that are the same type, I would take the absolute numbers with a grain of salt. Interestingly, the stock HP seems lower than I would think and the supercharged HP is higher than I would have thought. Chevy rates the 6.0L LQ9 engine at 345 HP and I was thinking that I was getting 470 with the supercharger. The chart says more like 320 stock and 510 supercharged.

    The increaes is not unreasonable but where the numbers begin seem to be to me.

    A stock 5.3L making 279hp at the reas wheels. That's ls1 teritory.

    doesn't it?
